Working

The word “work” can be used for many different situations; it can be defined many different ways. Today I have several different issues that are all related to this four letter word in some way.

For example, I have stated several times today that I have been working on my website. This may be stretching the truth a little as this is something I enjoy. Being able to create something is important to me – it is when I feel the best about myself and the world around me.

I have noticed recently that I have been referring to my relationship with my wife as work. While this is sometimes a negative reference it also reflects the true nature of a marriage. Spending your life committed to someone is work. One has to work at the relationship in order to keep it functioning properly. This is not to say that the relationship is not rewarding or fun – in fact it is both fun and rewarding. In fact this is the one area in my little world which I have come to count on for stability.

Projects around the house are sometimes labeled as work. Sometimes these jobs are fun; sometimes they are definitely not.

Work most often refers to that thing which we do for a job. Most unfortunately the records indicate that we need to do some restructuring at my work. This could mean some adjustments in the pay structure. Oh, boy!! All in a day's work.

I used to like to write. I have found that writing has become increasingly difficult in the past 4 or 5 years. I hope that using this web log on a regular basis will help me to hone my skills again – in short – to become friendlier with the act of writing.
