Iron Chef Hubbard

The other evening the kids watched Iron Chef America with us. If you have not seen Iron Chef, you should, it's a hoot. Two chefs are given a secret ingredient and compete to prepare 4-5 dishes in one hour. After the show Harrison found a bowl to combine his crackers, cheese, and apples into a new and marvelous creation. He also wanted to make brownies with milk on top and sprinkled with peanuts.

The following day cousin's Lisette and Clare, came to play. When I got out the playdough, Harrison explained the concept of Iron Chef. The secret ingredient, playdough, had been revealed. For the next hour they were fully engaged. Emma and Clare were the pastry chefs turning out tarts, cookies and pies of every color imaginable. Lisette grilled up a storm using the George Foreman Playdough Grilling Machine. I'm not kidding, this is a real toy given to the kids last year by John & Louise. Harrison used the playdough extruder to make many types of pasta topped with realistic looking mushrooms.

When it came time to present the culinary delights there were more than 4-5 dishes. The proud chefs fussed over plating the dishes for this picture. The moms fussed over the state of the floor. Thank goodness for pergo!

I like the bottom picture; Emma looks as if she's had a long, long day, worked hard at producing pastries, but that by golly it just might be worth it.

But the real question is: did he eat that mess? If so, perhaps he should watch Iron Chef more often. Maybe it would encourage him to not be so afraid of mixing his foods.

I just want to know who took the bite out of the bell pepper to kick the show off :-)

A game for your next party, wouldn't it be fun to play with adults at home? I want to watch and take pictures and be the judge! Where on your super powered tv do you find this show?

I'm truly impressed! That's some serious creativity going on at your house...
